Socio-Economic Surveys and Assessments

Socio-Economic Surveys and Assessments

Socio-Economic Surveys and Assessments are delivered either as part of an ESIA or as standalone studies to inform corporate social responsibility strategies or social development programs. Our capabilities include social impact assessments, human rights assessments, stakeholder engagement and disclosure, grievance mechanisms, and household-level socio-economic surveys.

Socio-Economic Surveys and Assessments

Conducting socio-economic surveys and assessments requires an understanding of the social and governance systems, traditional lifestyles, mindset and customs of the potentially affected communities arising from a project. Social and governance systems are country specific, while traditional lifestyles, mindset and customs are more nuanced, often being specific to the tribal sub-culture in the vicinity of the project. Successful delivery requires engaging with stakeholders, key informants and focus groups using culturally aware behaviour and language to build the relationships on which future trust rests. Our socio-economic work has been built around the relevant International Finance Corporation Performance Standards including PS4 and PS5.
